James has worked in the civil service, private sectors and is now a consultant working in the public, private and charity sectors.

James works at all levels in organisations from young managers to senior management and Board members. He has experience in training, development and coaching in a range of industries including financial and professional services, retail, utilities, pharmaceuticals, charities and the public sector. James' multi-sector experience along with extensive work as a senior leader on a international basis enables him to support leaders and teams for the challenges they face, with a deep insight into the "real world' pressures they face.

James has many years experience working at Vice President level in finance for the major pharmaceuticals company AstraZeneca PLC. In addition, he spent several years working in leadership development, coaching and change management for AstraZeneca, with James' efforts in 2002 winning the UK HR magazine award for best high potential development programme.

James is recognised for his natural, engaging and insightful style and for building good working relationships quickly. His chairing, speaking and training efforts regularly receive top ratings, with feedback as recently as November 2010 as follows: "Your talk differed because it was shot through with pragmatism and delivered in a refreshingly jargon free manner. .. I thought you got to the heart of the matter in a very clear and direct way ; you helped crystallise some thoughts I have been having recently and offered new insights that I was not familiar with ......so a thoroughly good session , one of the best I have been to for a long time".

James is passionate about building successful organisations through insights in what it takes to be a good leader and through individual and team development being tied closely to real world impacts. James also has a deep expertise in risk, governance and organisational effectiveness - particularly balancing challenges around delivery and efficiency alongside empowerment and innovation
