The Numerical Reasoning Test has multiple choice answers and works with such mathematical ideas as logical number sequences and basic arithmetic. This part of the test has 40 questions and a time limit of 30 minutes. The Abstract Reasoning Test (this test is optional, you can chose to buy DAT with the verbal and numerical tests only) assesses the candidate’s ability to infer rules from non-verbal sequences. This element of the DAT has 40 questions and a time limit of 20 minutes. BackgroundThe General Abilities Battery was originally developed as part of the Differential Aptitude Tests, Fifth Edition, Level 2. The DAT, a test that has previously been standardised in the US, Canada, Australia, and Ireland and has been translated into many European languages, was first published in 1947. Since then several revisions have appeared, with the most recent UK version appearing in 1990. UsesStaff selection - Where general reasoning ability is required within a specific task or range of job families, DAT GAB is an invaluable pre-selection tool. It is especially helpful in situations where fairness and equality is a premium consideration, for example in large teams where skills and adaptability must be judged as objectively as possible. Staff Appraisal - Again, the ability to remain objective about strengths and weaknesses is an essential tool in devising and shaping further training and development. DAT GAB’s ability to provide data that is not only specific to the individual but relative to an occupational norm, or relative to team members, may also help the organisation identify exceptional performance and may even challenge perceived views of how well an individual or group is working. Reliability and ValidityDAT GAB draws on a wide range of norm tables gathered from many thousands of tests that continue to be developed both in the UK and in the USA. Norm groups include A-Level Students, Further Education Students, GNVQ Students and Professional and Managerial Grades. As indicated by the Kuder-Richardson Formula #20 (KR#20) the DAT GAB has a high degree of internal consistency with coefficients ranging from 0.80 to 0.94. Complete tables of standard errors of measurement (SEM) are obtainable on application. The test conforms to British Psychological Society and American Psychological Association guidelines on personality test construction and use. Accreditation RequirementsIn order to receive the reports from the DAT™, a British Psychological Society (BPS) Level A accreditation is required. If this is not held Getfeedback can provide a qualified consultant to provide feedback on the report. Administration OptionsPlease note that in line with the test publisher’s guidelines for ability tests every possible step must be taken to ensure that the question sets are protected, and that the individuals completing the assessment are the individuals named. By purchasing this test you agree to ensure that everything possible is done to ensure this. |
